THE LANGUAGE OF THE NORDIC/GERMANIC MYTHS

Mythology is not just a collection of stories. It is a language. It uses symbols to convey ideas. A kind of symbol found in the Edda’s is the kenning. It was believed that to give your real name to a stranger was to give him power over you. So you used a descriptive name, a kenning. Often a kenning was used to draw attention to a particular aspect of a person or object.

For example: The Nordic Tree of Life ‘Yggdrasil’ may be called ‘Life Supporter’; ‘The Shade Giver’; “The Soil Mulcher’; ‘The Nobel Ash Tree’; ‘Odin’s Horse’; or ‘Odin’s Gallows’.

The Norse myths also make use of puns, which can be a most effective method of teaching.

The Norse ‘Cinderella’ is Askungen (Ask =Ash + Unge = Child). ‘The Ash Child’. All living beings are children of the Nordic Ash Tree. Each is also an Yggdrasil Tree in his own right. The Ash Child is cyclically reborn from the ashes of its former self, like the Phoenix.

Askungen also means ‘God-kin’ of divine lineage and ‘God-knowing’ having knowledge of divinity’s and ‘Knowing as a God’, possessing divine wisdom and also ‘Known as a God.’ Thus an ingenious play on words makes the title of this fairytale convey a high philosophy. The Nordics knew like Nietzsche said “Ye are Gods.”

The entire pantheon of Norse gods/goddesses represents properties existing in nature and ourselves.

The furtherance of human progress towards a nobler state is in large what myths aim to encourage.

The hero tales of the Edda’s have a dual character as both quasi-historical and legendary. They interlink large numbers of characters in a web of plots and counterplots.

To relate myths to humanity’s prehistory would demand untangling of many intermingled threads. The German version of Sigurd Fafnesbane (Bane of Fafnir) is suggestive of those remote aeons.

Nibelungen or Niflungan in Norse means “children of the mist.” The Niflungan were followed by the Volsungan, which means “children of Volsi,” a much later humanity.

Many of the feuds in the myths were reference to a succession of races, branch races, and lesser tribes. Myths reflect the passing of an age without praise or blame.

Norse Winter Solstice is Known as "YULE" Time

Norse Yule, or Winter Solstice

As we get deeper into the Age of Aquarius and the new Paradigm of the Laws of Spiritual Quantum Physics the truth will come put. The truth as to how many sacred rituals and holy days the Catholics stole from our Pagan ancestors after burning down their churches and killing the druids and holy men

Yule,or Winter Solstice, occurs about December 21. This is known to the Norse as Jol (Wheel) or Mother Night. This is a time of the death and rebirth of the Sun God.

Yule originally lasted from about December 20th to December 31. The old "Yule-tide", is also remembered as the "Twelve days of Christmas." Yule-tide began on Mother Night and ended on Yule itself, twelve nights from the Mother Night.

The days are shortest and the Sun is at it's lowest point. The Triple Goddess rules with her aspect of the Crone ruling cold and darkness, and her aspect of the Mother giving birth to the Child of Promise. An oak Yule log (burned in honor of Thor) is still a tradition in Norse/Germanic countries. The ashes are scattered over the fields, or the charred remains kept to start next years Yule log.
Mistletoe is hung over the door to keep out malicious spirits. The same is done at Summer Solstice. The Full Moon after Yule is considered the most "Powerful" of the whole year. In this time the whole year is magically contained; out of it the year is regenerated from it's own depths. The Yule ritual is always held indoors and is intensely personal, done only with family and coven members.

Tradition says that if there is a knock at the door this day, it wasn't answered. I suspect this was true on all pagan holy days to keep from being persecuted by the Christians.
This ritual is a "light" festival, with as many candles as possible on or near an altar to welcome the Sun Child.

Norsemen = Northmen =Vikings

It is we, modern man, that has used the term “Vikings” when we talk about our ancestors.

But during the times that they explored, raided and traded with the rest of the world they were known as 'Northmen' or 'Norsemen.'

If you are doing research on Vikings on the net try entering 'Northmen' and 'Norsemen' as key words for additional info.

A great deal of our Ancestral history has been presented in rude fragments in early Icelandic Poetry. Until just recently, the rich wealth of Norse religious traditions, mythical law and Rune information have been ignored.

Our Religious Beliefs and much of our Rune Lore is enshrined in the Edda's. They are as rich in natural romance and race imagination as any of the myths of the South.

Our Icelandic literature stands as strong as the Scandinavian Mountains. It exhibits a 'spirit of Victory; a spirit that fights and overcomes. This literature is the base of Fairy tales, Wagner's opera, “The Ring” and Token's Lord of the Rings.

The Norsemen have given their Gods a Noble, upright, great spirit and placed them on a higher level than other Gods.

The old Norse Songs have a truth in them, as do the runes. It is an inward truth and greatness, not of the mere body but also a greatness of the Soul.

The modern day indifference to our Northern Mythology has many causes. First of all that the religious beliefs of our past ancestors were not held with any real tenacity. This gave the Christian missionaries their opening. The Northern Festivals were arrested and convoluted into Christian festivals.

The Runes were demonized and destroyed by fire, since the majority of Rune lore was carved into wood.

Only a travesty of the faith of our Ancestors has been preserved in Norse literature. Most of the early poetry is allegory and cannot be read verbatim.

“His Eyes were fixed on the mountains till the snowy peaks assumed human features and the giant of the rock descended with heavy tread....”

We are told nothing as to sacrificial and religious rites which would have provided material for much more Artistic Treatment.

Even with all the limitations imposed by long neglect; it is possible for us to reconstruct a plan to bring forward our ancient Norse beliefs.

Our Ancestors gazed upon a Universe filled with Divinity. They were large-hearted people. We must preserve as much of the old lore as we can.

The Volsung Saga is a great story of the North which should be to all our race what the tale of Troy was to the Greeks.

Now with the new paradigm of the laws of Quantum Physics, the box of secrets to the past has been opened wide.

Let us use one of the gifts of the Age of Aquarius, the INTERNET, to surf and copy and distribute as much information about our Northern Race and their Runes as we can find.

It is our task to revitalize our Ancestral Soul, and allow it become more powerful, even into the 21^st Century!

Nibelung Ring Runes

The Ring of the Nibelung is a very old Norse Mythological story. It's theme has been used down through the centuries by may famous artists, composers and writers.

Wagner immortalized it with his famous Opera of the same name. J.R. Tolkien used it as the base for his Ring of Power which had the runes inscribed inside the band. . It is in the theme of “L 'Mort D'art” ( the story of King Arthur), Scott used it by embedding “The Sword in the Stone.”

Brothers Grimm used it in their wonderful story “Sleeping Beauty.” Even the story of Siegfried and the Dragon, used the Nibelung Ring theme. And many, many more too many to name.

Where did it all start? Where did the legends come from? We have a clue in “Die Walkure.” This is the story of Odin and the Valkyrie Brunhilde.

Once a upon a time, the Northern Gods found themselves in a dilemma. They had a very powerful ring inscribed with Runes in their possession. They could not allow their enemy, a giant, to get possession of it. That would spell their doom.

So they built a citadel and had nine Valkyrie maidens guarding it. All of them were daughters of Odin and Erda.

Odin went to Midgard and united himself with a mortal woman. He called himself, Walse, meaning “wolf”. He wanted to found a formidable race called the 'Walsungs.'

The first two Walsungs were Siegmund and Sieglinde. But before they could marry, Sieglinde was carried off by a rough hunter called Hunding.

Siegmund fought Hunding until l the darkness separated them. Siegmund found his way to Hunding's house. Hunding returned, and since he could not fight Siegmund in his home he offered him combat for the next morning.

That night a mysterious stranger, the God Odin, came and thrust a sword up to the hilt into the trunk of a tree in front of Hunding's home.

Odin said it could only be drawn out by the bravest. This gave Siegmund the edge, being part god himself. He easily drew the sword out of the trunk. Odin then ordered Brunhilde, the Valkyrie, to help Siemund in the upcoming fight.

Frigga, Odin's wife was furious that Odin gave Siegmund such an advantage. She demanded he back off. Odin yielded and commanded Brunhilde to see that Siegmund failed. Brunhilde went to kill Siegmund, but her heart melted and she could not kill him.

For her disobedience, Odin revoked Brunhilde's power. Odin then condemned her to wed the mortal who should awaken her. He swore that only the bravest of heroes would be able to wake her up. Odin kissed Brunhilde and cast her into a deathlike slumber. He struck his staff on the rocks and summoned Loge, the fire God.

Flames in the form of protection Runes ( not unlike the rune Thurisaz) sprang up and surrounded the sleeping Valkyrie maiden.

Look at how many wonderful stories sprang up from this little tale!

How to Use Quantum Physics
To Build Your Own Sacred Spaces
Part 2

No matter where you live in a small apartment, a house or a large farm, you can build a protected Sacred Space for your Spiritual meditation and workings.

To start define your personal place within this Sacred Space. Where will you be positioned to do your meditations and rituals?

I have may favorite leather recliner in my living room. That is where I sit when I do all my Rune work, my rituals and my meditations. I always sit there with pencil and paper because many of my writing ideas come to me at that time.

I am married, so I get up at 4 AM for my meditations and Rituals and leave my wife and dog asleep. You need to be alone free from all other mental energies other than your own.

This is what it is all about. Learning how to use the Laws of Mental Radionics. This is the Law that allows you to enter the Quantum Ocean, the Mind of God and abstract the manifested energies that exist there and bring them into your own physical reality.

It is much like a painter dipping his brush into the various colors to apply them to his canvas. You will dip your mind into the infinite ocean of intelligent, living energy called the Quantum Ocean to paint on your Canvas of Life.

Once I am settled in my chair and relaxed, I use my creative imagination to visualize the boundaries of my domain. I visualize the front of the house (North) where the porch and drive way are. Then behind me the South, green grass and trees for 50 yards. East, is the rear of the house. Our parking lot and our flower and vegetable garden are there. West is the next door neighbor's house.

This is my Domain. You can use any form of protection you like at this time to surround your domain. I choose the Runes. I visualize four ten foot Thorn Runes for Protection. I mentally see them glowing at the N. S. E. and W. edges of my domain. Then I connect them with white energetic light going clockwise from North back to North.

It only takes a minute to do this. Every time I visualize this protective Thorn ring around my Domain. I am pulling energies out of the Quantum Ocean into this Protective Ring and re-enforcing it. My Master used to say it was like drawing an etching of the Thorn Runes on a piece of glass. Slowly by surely it will be permanently etched onto the glass.

Be in no hurry, but do be persistent. Every day, day after day. Life is lived one day at a time. And repetition is heaven's first law.

Once you have your sacred place built and protected you can start to invite your inner circle into it.

How to Use Quantum Physics

To Build Your Own Sacred Place

Part 1

The mythologies, history, folktales of all nations have spoken about Sacred Spaces and the beings that live there.

We as a people and a race have lost our Spirituality. We have traded it for 'Civilization." We have ignored the Gods/Goddess's of our Ancestors. We have denied the existence of other types of beings besides ourselves, humans.

Not only have we stopped worshiping or even vising the Sacred Places of our Ancestors, but we have done a thorough job of destroying them. We have filled in those Sacred Spaces with concrete and blacktop. We have cut down the Sacred trees and polluted the Sacred Waters.

We have chased all the little spirit creatures both physical and non-physical away from us.

We must get our Spirituality back. We must do it one individual, one family, one neighborhood, and one small town at a time.

The Native Americans who roamed the Country from ocean to ocean had many sacred places, power places.

The evil men in our Government and in the Bureau of Indian Affairs knew what I am talking about, about the connection between an indigenous people and their Sacred Places. The unconscious Soldiers, who had lost their Spirituality blindly followed the orders of their Superiors.

Even Stonehenge and the Sacred Circle of Stones all over Europe are being desecrated by visitors with cameras and scientists with measuring devices.

The Spiritual energies of the Planet and the Spiritual Beings who inhabited these places are almost gone. That is why Darkness is descending upon us more and more.

Read Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings," Trilogy to get a better understanding of what is happening. But just as Tolkien ended his story in a victory of Light over Darkness, we can do it also. One home, one yard and one farm at a time.

We can start by making our own yard, garden or farm a Sacred Space. We can treat it like a Sacred Space. We can visualize the Spiritual beings coming back and making our personal Sacred Space their home.

It is time for each of us to become more Spiritual and less materialistic. It is time for each of us to become more cooperative and less competitive.

The net which is a great gift of the Age of Aquarius is full of information about Sacred Places and the beings who inhabit them.

Go to the net and find "Findhorn." You will see how the people in a small community worked together with nature spirits to produce huge vegetables, flowers and fruit.

We are not alone. We are not in the outer physical world we call our Galaxy nor in our inner physical world we call our mind.

The Universe both inner and outer is teeming with life. Let us contact or create Spiritual Beings who will inhabit our Sacred Space and protect us and help us.

Yes, I said create. The Laws of Quantum Physics tell us that there exists an infinite ocean of thinking, intelligent energy, called the Quantum Ocean. It is the Mind of God. There is not time nor space there. There is only the HERE-NOW. We live, move and have our being within this Quantum Ocean, Mind of God. It responds to our thoughts.

We can better our present reality or create a new one with our thoughts.

Everything that ever was, is or will be exists in the Quantum Ocean, Mind of God.

By thinking about the beings in the Quantum Ocean and your Sacred Space you can attract them.

There are Norse Vaettir, Wights, Alfar (Elves), Dverger (Dwarves), Jotnar (Giants) and the Gods and Goddess's, the Aesir and Vanir.

There are Angels and Archangels, Undines, Slyphs, Salamanders, Wee people, Gnomes, Fairies, Fey etc.

Go to the net and research the spiritual beings. Select the ones you like and attract them into your Sacred Space.

This page is devoted to Freya, the runes and the modern day Valkyries, women warriors! It is written for women, who are practitioners and followers of Freya and Norse shamanism, of which the runes are an integral part. In the 1930's, when efforts were made to re-awaken the Norse Gods, by using the runes they had very harsh results. Carl Jung, in his essay on Odin first published in 1936 describes how "The God of Storm and frenzy, the long quiescent Woten, is awakening like an extinct volcano, to a new activity, in a civilized country that had long supposed to have outgrown the middle ages." This was something like going into the woods, finding the fierce decedent of those original cats and saying "Oh look there's a cute kitties! Lets take her home with us."

Attracting the energies of the runes out of the timeless, spaceless infinite ocean of the Quantum Ocean is not a game. The vehicles or forms that you want to bring these energies into must be clearly defined.

Seventy years later the Runes and the Norse Gods still bring to mind something awesome and untamed. For many people that is enough reason to leave them alone. But for those of you who feel the call there is something compelling about the runes and the wild Gods return from the underworld (Quantum Ocean). To be attracted to their ancient power is natural because it is the essence of the underworld itself. There may be danger in the runes, but this is a time when dangerous ideas are needed - we need to turn inward to find the challenge. We need the runes. We need to update the runes and bring them into the 21st century.

There is a divine timing plan in the Quantum Ocean, which is also the mind of the creator god. It is time to once again attract Freya, the Northern Mysteries and the Runes out of the Quantum Ocean and into our lives.

This is Ragnar Storyteller's About Me page.

Who am I?

Before you embark on using the Runes for Rune Meditation, Rune Yoga, Rune Study, Rune Magick, or Bindrune Making, make sure that you know something about the person you are taking the instructions from.

Why? Runes are Universal Creative Energies and therefore very, very powerful. They were never meant for divination or writing. They were meant to CREATE.

Each individual Rune is a key to a very powerful energy.

Don't play around with them!

Ragnar Storyteller

Ragnar Storyteller is my earned viking name because of all that I have written about Odin and the Vikings.

Ellis Peterson is my other name. I am a Swede. My ancestors are from Upsala. My father and grandfather are both viking beserkers. They would fight at the drop of a hat all the while biting on their tongues. My grandfather lost an arm when he fell off a 3 story roof while tarring it. That did not stop him. He would still go to the bar and when he was drunk pick a fight, even with one arm. I have their blood running through my veins.

At 70+ I fight with my mind and the runes.

They are both in Valhalla now. My grandfather was gassed in France in WWI. My father's ship was torpedoed at the Battle of Midway in WWII. I followed in their footsteps and am a Koreran War vet.

But I see now that we cannot protect our Northern European Heritage by fighting. These are not the times for that. So I am now choosing the Sword of the Mind to battle on for my kindred.

Being a greybeard I see things now a lot clearer that I did when younger. I see that man's purpose on earth is to evolve. To become godlike, so said Nietsche and others.

First of all, I am 70+, a retired math professor and electrical engineer. I am a radionics and orgone technology scientist and have made my own devices.

I am a Viking Skald and Runemaster. I have been studying the runes for 25 years. I belonged to several well known Asatru Groups in Arizona. I ran an Asatru Prison Ministry where I communicated and sent free literature to over 700 viking inmates in jails and prisons.

I wrote several books on Odin and Vikings. I have written over 200 articles and essasys (many are on my websites.) I run two successful websites.

And, I HAVE BEEN OUTLAWED BY SEVERAL ASATRU COMMUNITIES BECAUSE OF WHAT I WRITE.

What is it I write? I am the first Viking to try and bring the Runes and the gods/goddesses of our ancestors out of the dark ages of Viking raids and into the light of the 21st century.

I use the language and science of Radionics and Quantum Physics to do my rituals and blots.

The godi's of Arizona don't like this.

I write for the individual Viking who wants to work from home and not join one of their organizations. They do not like this. I say that I have not met a Viking Godi with any power. They do not like this. I say we can no longer go into the woods and do blots and rituals out of outdated ritual books and ask the gods/goddesses to come down and help us. They don't like this.

Why are they and us at times, so childish to think that we have earned the right for the manifestation of a god or goddess into our lives? They don't like this.

Closed minds in any religion are dangerous.

Beside what would we do with the giant red bearded Thor if he were to manifest himself into our lives. He would be out of place just like axe or sword would be out of place on a modern field of battle.

Although we cannot manifest the God Thor into our lives, we can use the science of Quantum Physics to attract the RUNIC POWERS OF THOR out of the Quantum Ocean and into our lives.

Gods do not do things for us. Thor will not protect us. But by attracting Thor's energy out of the Quantum Ocean and into our lives we can protect ourslves. Same with all the energies of all the gods and goddesses.

I have been to many Asatru blots in the woods. I have never met a Godi who had any power to manifest a god/goddess of the North into our circle. Why? Because they do not have the runes inside of them.

No power!

The runes are the key to the gods/goddesses. Each Rune is a key to a powerful energy and is associated with a god/goddess. So when you learn how to get the runic energies inside of you. you will not become Thor, but you will be Thor-like. You will have his energies and power.

I have never seen another site on the net that talks about bringing the runes and gods/goddesses into the 21st century.

I told the Godi's and self appointed leaders of the various Asatru groups what I thought and they marked me outlaw. So be it!

I told you that I never met a Godi (viking shaman) with power. But I have met Native American shamans with power. I spent a whole summer with a Cherokee Medicine Man, Willie Whitfeather, in the Arizona desert. He had power and I saw many of his manifestations.

He told me that real magic must be done alone and with proper preparation. Sweat lodges, vision quests and getting the spirit of what you wanted to do inside of you first.

He took me to Four Corners, Arizona and introduced me to the Grandfather, the 112 year old Hopi Shaman.

Talk about power. I was allowed to enter the sacred caves where the 3000 year old pictographs on the walls fortold of the arrival of Columbus and his three ships.

Why me? Willie said he could see my spirit and it was wise, powerful and true.

He named me Curious Bear because of the constant stream of questions I asked him and the Grandfather.

I wanted to KNOW!

Because of my intrusion, I was chased down the Arizona Highway by Apache Warrior spirits. You can read about it on one of my pages listed below.

Willie said that the whole massacre at Wounded Knee was all about power. The Native Americans were about to manifest the spirits of their great dead warriors to help them in their fight. The govenment knew all about their magick and power rituals so they slaughtered them all.

We have power and the power lies in our RUNES,

not in outdated rituals.

I spent the last five years doing rune meditations, rune yoga, rune magick, rune rituals etc so that I could get the runic energies out of the quantum ocean ,where ALL energy exists, and into my aura. Now I carry them around with me and use them when I need them.

I have written about these new methods in the 110 pages on this website. They are different. They use the Laws of Quantum Physics, radionics and the secrets of MENTAL MIND MAGICK, which is thousands of years old. All shamans, magicians, voodoo priests etc know about them.

There have always been enlightened men and women. They all say one thing in common using different words. There is a great medium of mind and intelligence that knows and does everything. This thinking intelligence will create whatever the mind of man thinks into it. This infinite thinking stuff is what is now called the Quantum Ocean.

The Runes are in this Quantum Ocean. Therefore the Runes and the Laws of Quantum Physics offer us the greatest challenge and the greatest hope for our children and grand children through peace. love, cooperation and creativity.

Not with the 1000 year old axe and sword, hate, war and prejudice.

We discovered the Runes, Quantum Physcis and Radionics. Let's use them. LET US OUT THINK THEM. Our Northern European minds are our greates weapon.

I know that this site and the information on it is not for everyone. But I say this: if we do not update our magic and rituals so that they are in tune with the 21st century, then Asatru will go the way of all the other religions who will not change. It will die as they are dying. You can see it all around you.

THERE IS ONE GREAT LAW IN THE UNIVERSE. THOSE WHO IGNORE IT GO THE WAY OF THE DINOSAURS AND DODO BIRDS. EXTINCTION. THAT LAW IS:

"THE ONLY THING CONSTANT IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE IS CHANGE"

Who dwells in the Nine Worlds of Norse Mythology?

Each of the Nine Worlds has a guardian on the threshold, and a rune.

NORSE WORLD OF ASGARD

The Aesir gods, the Warrior gods live here in their halls. Odin rules over the World of Asgard. GIBO is the rune associated with this world. Heimdal is the Guardian on the Threshold. He is the one you must deal with if you are to enter the Norse World of Asgard via the Rainbow Bridge.

NORSE WORLD OF VANAHEIM

The Vanir Gods live here in peace and plenty. Frey is the Guardian on the Threshold. INGUZ is the rune.

NORSE WORLD OF ALFHEIM

Inhabited by the Light elves. Norse World of fertility, plants and animals. Delling an Elf is the Guradian on the Threhsold. SOWULO is the rune.

NORSE WORLD OF MIDGARD

The Middle World, the world of man. This is the only realm subject to time. Midgard is the matrix or field of action where all the other worlds interact. Thor, the friend of the farmer and common man is the Guardian on the Threshold. JERA is the rune.

NORSE WORLD OF MUSPELHEIM

The First World. The world of creative and destructive fire. Surt the Destroyer is the Guardian on the Threshold. He leads the Evil Force sent out for the Battle of Ragnarok. DAGAZ is the rune.

Norse world of Nifelheim

Called the World of the Dead. The Nidhogg Dragon is the Guardian of the Threshold. NAUTHIZ is the rune.

NORSE WORLD OF SVARTALFHEIM

World of the Dark Elves, Dwarves. They are greedy and treacherous over the treasures of the Earth. Modsognir is the Guardian of the Threshold. EIHWAZ is the rune.

NORSE WORLD OF HEL

World of the Dead. Ruled over by Loki's daughter, Hella. Hella is the Guardian of the Threshold. HAGZLAZ is the rune.

NORSE WORLD OF JOTUNHEIM

World of Giants. The forces of chaos. Thrym the Giant is the Guardian of the Threshold and he hates Thor. ISA is the rune.

The Laws of Quantum Physics tell us that these Nine Worlds of Norse Mythology still exist. They have always existed. But why would you want to go to any of them but Asgard and Midgard? I wouldn't even if I knew a ritual or spell to do so.
